AI FORUM

At the end of August, the first Forum on Artificial Intelligence in the Oil and Gas Industry was held in Atyrau. The initiator was the Union of Oilfield Service Companies of Kazakhstan (KazService) with the official support of the Akimat of Atyrau Region, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs. The forum brought together over 150 participants from seven regions of the country. More than 100 companies presented their approaches and solutions for implementing AI in the oil and gas sector, from large operators and service companies to Kazakhstani startups, fintech teams, engineering bureaus and IT integrators. The forum became a platform for a lively dialogue between business, the government and the innovative community. As part of the forum, a memorandum was signed between KazService and Astana Hub, aimed at developing a startup ecosystem and introducing corporate innovations into production processes.

West Dala took part in several key sessions on the digital transformation of the oil and gas industry and the future of AI in energy, the use of AI in exploration and production, predictive analytics and maintenance, robotics, and also listened to individual presentations from international and domestic companies that presented specific solutions for the industry.

According to Head of the IT Department, Kairat Lukbanov: “Among all the AI systems presented, the most interest for us lies in the TUMAR intelligent system, as it is directly related to key aspects of industrial safety: monitoring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE); supervising hazardous operations with a hydraulic wrench; and controlling danger zones during work. These functions fully align with our priorities of minimizing risks, protecting employees, and enhancing the overall safety culture at our facilities.”
