GEWR'23

On July 4-5, Astana hosted the VII Eurasian Business Forum "Green Energy and Waste Recycling 2023" (GEWR'23), organized by the KazWaste Association with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RoK.

West Dala representatives participated in plenary sessions and roundtables to discuss the circular economy in ESG agenda, the importance of developing "sustainable" cities, e-waste, the formation of a civilized market for secondary raw materials, SME development in waste management, innovative technology solutions, the transition to the ERC and NAT as well as the National Forum on Methane. Development of standards and implementation of procedures for conformity assessment of secondary raw materials and products, as well as measures to stimulate the development of this market were discussed at the forum. One of the main theses of the forum: waste is a renewable resource. But this approach is currently lacking, both because of low support from the state and because of an understanding of the importance of recycling among the population. The initiatives of the KazWaste Association were announced at the forum: the creation of committees "Circular Economy" and the Technical Committee for Standardization "Circular Economy. Sustainable Production and Consumption", which will improve the legislation of the RoK on the circular economy and the implementation of pilot projects together with the ESG-club.
